Simple But Not Easy

Posted on

Love always desires the good. God is love. Therefore, God always desires the good. He always wants what is best for us. He also knows that often what we want is not what is best for us.

In the first reading from Isaiah 48, it’s put like this: “I, the LORD, your God, teach you what is for your good, and lead you on the way you should go…” In the Gospel reading from Matthew 11, Jesus says, “But wisdom is vindicated by her works.”

So, what is the way we should go? Quite simply, it is God’s way. We get details in today’s readings. “Hearken to my commandments.” Walk in the way of wisdom by following Christ. Funny how it all sounds so simple, and yet we find it so complicated. Think of it this way: God’s way is simple, but not always easy.

Father, help us to see more clearly the way we should go – your way. Amen.

Amen Gus! “…simple, but not always easy.”

I believe the following suggestion/advice I received in Confession earlier this week sums it up nicely.

The priest said that he tries to picture speaking to Jesus when he talks with a difficult person. This helps him to speak with them in a loving way. He added that this is how Jesus spoke to people – and they still crucified Him.

Yes, simple, but not easy! God bless you!
