Seeing the Grace of God

Posted on

In today’s first reading from Acts 11, news reaches the Apostles in Jerusalem about the growing Church in Antioch. So they sent Barnabas to Antioch. Did you know that’s where the word “Christians” came from?

“When [Barnabas] arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain faithful to the Lord in firmness of heart, for he was a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit and faith.” Barnabas saw the grace of God.

One of the things that I always like to work on in my life is seeing and acknowledging the hand of God at work. Like Barnabas, I want to see the grace of God. Unfortunately, our vision to see that grace gets clouded by so many things. Yet even though we may fail to see it, God’s grace is always being poured out. Do you see it?

Father, give us clear vision to always see your grace, in our lives and in the world. May we always point to your grace as sustaining us. Amen.
