Remain in Him

Posted on

Keeping your faith in Christ is pretty important. (That's a bit of understatement, in case you're wondering.) In our first reading today from 1 John 2 we see this clearly with one particular word. Remain.

"And now, children, remain in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not be put to shame by him at his coming."

In the seven verses in this reading, the word "remain" is used six times. Do you think the beloved disciple thought this was a key point? Of course. There are so many things trying to shake our faith in Christ. And, unfortunately, those things have worked on far too many people. Don't be one of them. Cling to Him with every ounce of your strength. Or, as St. John says, remain in Him.

Father, give us the strength to remain in Christ, always staying faithful to His teachings and close to His heart. Amen.
