In today's Gospel reading from Luke 10, Jesus sends out seventy-two disciples to go in pairs and visit every town He intended to visit. He gives them instructions on what they are to do and how they are to conduct themselves.
"Into whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace to this household.' If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you."
Is your household one of peace? If one of Christ's disciples came to your house, would his peace rest on you, or would it return to him? So many households (families) lack peace today. There is so much tumult and acrimony in the world. It can be difficult to find peace. But it can be found in Christ Jesus. If you're lacking peace today, hear the voice of Christ speaking to you. "Peace be with you."
Father, may we be people of peace today, and every day. Amen.
