Nothing is Impossible

Posted on

While today is Christmas Eve, in the liturgy it is the Fourth Sunday of Advent. Just a reminder that for Mass attendance, you don't get a twofer. One must attend Mass for the Fourth Sunday of Advent, and another Mass for Christmas.

The Gospel reading for today is the story of the Annunciation from Luke 1. This is the fourth time in just over two weeks that we have heard this Gospel. Should be pretty familiar by now! Today I want to concentrate on the last words of the Angel Gabriel to Mary. "For nothing will be impossible for God."

Of course we believe that God is God, and God can do anything. ANYTHING! That all sounds good in theory, doesn't it? But do we truly believe that? I certainly hope so. Sometimes it can be hard. Like when someone suffers for a long time. But even when it seems like God is doing nothing, He isn't. He's always at work, mostly in unseen ways. Let us never forget that nothing is impossible for God.

Father, we believe that you can do all things. Help us to trust in your perfect plan. Amen.

Amen Gus! Paraphrasing Fr. Mike Schmitz, how many of who believe in God believe Him.

    Merry Christmas!
