I know it's January 2, but I want to share with you something I've been doing for many years, and encourage you to try it. Each year I make what I call a Scriptural New Year's Resolution. At the beginning of a new year, I ask God to show me something that I really need to work on in the coming year. So, here it is for 2019:
But you, man of God, avoid all this. Instead, pursue righteousness, devotion, love, patience and gentleness. Compete well for the faith.
1 Timothy 6:11-12
Give this a try. When you find the right verse, print it out and put it somewhere that you can look at it every day. Oh, and pray it every day.
Father, show us in your Word what you desire us to work on this year, and give us the graces to allow you to change us into what you desire us to become. Amen.
What a great idea! Thank you for the list! To celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany in our parish I usually have our religious classes bake and hand out cupcakes after Mass. This year, we’re going to print off the verses and randomly attach them to the bottom of the cupcakes for parishioners to pick from. Should be fun!
Thank you for this list! For 1 Timothy 6:11-12, I struggle with balance of righteousness with patience, love, gentleness. My sister is having a “no faith” wedding and I am righteous about this as she is my Goddaughter, but I, at the same time need to be gentle and patient. How can I do both without jeopardizing what it means to be obedient to God in our Faith (we were raised Catholic)? This may not be the place to give some reflection, but i appreciate the opportunity Gus! Thank you!
Will look forward to your choosing. I listen to you each day in my car as I head around the city. Just for laughs, more time with you now that football season is almost over.
This is a great idea. I enjoy 45 minutes of spiritual devotions with my coffee early each morning before heading to the gym. Now I will take the resolution with me into the day. Thank you Gus.

I don’t see the list of the 15…. where can I find it?
I wanted to pick number 6 and thought you said we could do it but I don’t see it.
I was in car when talking with Gus regarding resolution list 1-15 for 2019.
I picked #6, but could not write it down. Please send me email and tell me what reading #6 is.
Thanks & God bless,
Mandy
PS – Super show it captured my heart.
