My New Year’s Resolution

Posted on

Happy New Year! Remember that today is the Feast of Mary, the Mother of God. It is a holy day of obligation. We get to go to Mass!

New Year’s Day is always an introspective time for me. I always take a look back at the previous year and reflect on successes and failures of the past year. Many people only think about their failures – what they did wrong or failed to do. I strongly disagree with that approach. The coming year is a great time to build on our successes of the past year, and work on those areas where we may have fallen short.

2012 was a great year for me. I got to meet so many fascinating people, and God opened many doors for me. I’ll bet if you think back, you’ll be able to say the same. I have no idea what may be in store for 2013, but I’m sure there will be wonderful times of grace, and many new challenges. One of my goals for this year is to see more clearly those times of challenge as times of grace. I hope that we will all get a clearer picture of God’s hand at work in our lives. I’ll end by sharing my most important New Year’s resolution for 2013. It is to live out more fully Colossians 3:17 – “And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

Father, we thank you for the gift of a new year, the chance to make a new start. May we see more clearly your great plan for our lives, as we strive to live in you more and more. Amen.
