In today's first reading from Exodus 33 and 34 we read about Moses' interactions with the LORD. Moses had a very unique relationship with God.
"The LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as one man speaks to another." The LORD allowed Moses to see Him face to face and live. This actually made Moses glow.
Our relationship with God should be similar to Moses'. While we "see" God in many different ways, we cannot have the same kind of "face to face" interaction as Moses did. But St. John tells us that, at our eternal reward, "we shall see him as he is." For now, we still need to have that heart to heart relationship with God. While we can't look directly at Him, we can speak to Him - and hear Him - with our hearts.
Father, we look forward to the day we may look upon you in all your glory. Until then, thank you for hearing our prayers and speaking to our hearts. Amen.
