Gus had a “random encounter” this past weekend on a flight to speak in Long Island, New York with a practicing Catholic who blessed herself with holy water. When Gus asked for some, a conversation ensued that lasted the entire flight. Gus asks his listeners if they’ve ever experienced any “random encounters” like that.

Gus also welcomes Tom Peterson of Catholics Come Home to talk about their new Web site The Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University (CARA), asked Catholics in 2005 and again in 2008 about the frequency with which they took advantage of the sacrament. The results were discouraging: Only 2 percent of self-identified Catholics went to Confession once a more or more frequently. This Web site promotes the spiritual benefits of confession and helps people best prepare. To check out, click here.

Lastly, it’s Monday, so to help you tackle the blues, Gus opens up the phones for Tell Me Something Good.
