In today's Gospel reading from Matthew 13, Jesus is asked why He speaks in parables. He replies, "Because knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of heaven has been granted to you, but to them it has not been granted."
A parable is simply a story - a story with a deeper, sometimes hidden, meaning. Quite honestly, even after reading and studying all of Jesus' parables many times over, I still scratch my head and realize there is so much more that I still don't understand. We can always plumb the stories of Jesus ever more deeply.
I like to think our lives are a parable. What I mean by that is that we all have a story. And that story is powerful. That's why it must be shared. Others can benefit from you sharing the story of your life, of your faith. So don't be shy! Share the parable of your life with someone. They will be blessed.
Father, give us the grace and the courage to share the story of your work in our lives, that others may be blessed. Amen.
