Jesus was a miracle worker. We see this again and again. There was a common element to most of the healings He performed: faith.
In today’s Gospel reading from Mark 6, Jesus goes back to His hometown. Because people were familiar with Him, they had no faith in Him. Because of this, “he was not able to perform any mighty deed there, apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.”
I often wonder how Jesus feels about the state of things today regarding faith. We see study after study showing the rising number of people who are eschewing faith and religion. I think the message for me is to hang on to my faith with white knuckles. I’ve seen miracles in my life. I’d sure love that to continue.
Father, may our faith grow, and may we share that faith with others, that they may experience the many miracles of Jesus. Amen.
