In today's first reading from Isaiah 45, the LORD says, "To me every knee shall bend; by me every tongue shall swear, Saying, "Only in the LORD are just deeds and power."
In the Gospel reading from Luke 7, the disciples of John come to Jesus asking a question that John instructed them to ask, "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?" Jesus instructs them to go and tell John all the amazing things they had seen and heard.
Jesus is the one who performs these "just deeds" with "power." These days modern medicine can do amazing things. But we must always remember that in the end, it is the Lord that does the healing. It is the Lord that gave mankind the wisdom and knowledge to understand these things. And so our knees should bend and tongues confess that Jesus is Lord.
Father, we thank you for Jesus' just deeds and power. We profess Him as Lord to all the world. Amen.
