Jesus Feeds Us

Posted on

Today is the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. As Catholics, we believe that Jesus is truly present, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist. We actually celebrate this every time we go to Mass!

The Gospel reading today is from Luke 9. It’s the story of Jesus feeding a multitude. At the end, St. Luke says, “They all ate and were satisfied.” Why would the Church have this reading on the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ?

This feeding was a prefiguring of Christ feeding all people with His Body and Blood. It was a foreshadowing of what was to come. It shows us that Jesus was not only concerned with the spiritual needs of the people, but their physical needs as well. In other words, Jesus cares about every aspect of your life. And He provides for your every need – spiritual and physical.

Father, we thank you for the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. May we be ever more aware of Jesus filling all our needs. Amen.
