In today's first reading from Acts 4, Peter and John are before the Sanhedrin after healing the crippled man in the temple. The elders have them leave the room as they confer about how to handle this situation.
Bringing them back, the elders tell Peter and John not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. Peter and John reply, "It is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard."
So many of us are reticent to speak about our faith. We're embarrassed, afraid, timid. We don't want to offend anyone. What do you think the world would be like if the Apostles fell into that trap? People need Jesus. And they may not find Him, unless you and I feel that it is impossible for us not to speak about all He has done for us. So be bold! Speak boldly of the wonders God has done for you!
Father, give us a spirit of holy boldness, making it impossible for us not to speak of your glory, through your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
