His Words Will Not Pass Away

Posted on

In today’s Gospel reading from Mark 13, Jesus says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” And so it has been. Seasons come and go. Rulers and kingdoms are here today, gone tomorrow. But for 2000 years now, one thing has remained constant. The words of Jesus. Untold billions of people have been transformed by His words. But it is not untold billions that Jesus has his eye on. It is just one person. You.

Do Jesus’ words live in you? Are they written on your heart? If not, why not? As we prepare to wrap up 2021, let us take a few moments to allow Jesus’ words to penetrate our hearts. Not just for a moment, but forever. Let us take Jesus’ words and make sure that they live on in us, that they will never pass away. And that we will share them with our children and our children's children, so that future generations will know them as well.

Father, may the words of Christ Jesus touch our hearts today and every day. As they live on for eternity, may they live on in our hearts until you gather us up as your own. Amen.

    Good morning, Gus!

I read 60 Second Reflections every day along with the daily Mass readings. Thank you for the. I really enjoy reading them. I noticed today that you have not updated the year in the 2nd paragraph since 2021.

    God bless you!
