Going Out

Posted on

In today's Gospel reading from Mark 6, Jesus sends out the Twelve two by two and gives them authority over unclean spirits. He first gives them instructions.

"He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick - no food, no sack, no money in their belts...So they went off and preached repentance."

They went out. They followed Jesus' instructions and went out. there's an old expression, "Showing up is 90% of the battle." Or this one: "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." My point is this: we don't have to change the world. We just need to follow Jesus' instructions to go out. Just go out into the world and share the Good News. Don't overthink it. God will take it from there.

Father, give us the grace and courage to just go out. Amen.
