Today is Easter Monday. During the Easter season, our first readings will all be from the Acts of the Apostles. In today's first reading, we hear part of Peter's speech at Pentecost.
"But God raised him up, releasing him from the throes of death, because it was impossible for him to be held by it."
Many people see death as the end - of everything. But it wasn't for Jesus, and it won't be for us. God raised Him up. And just as God raised Jesus up, He will raise you up. As Christians, we participate in the life of Christ, including His death and resurrection.
Father, death could not hold Jesus. We believe that it will not hold us as well, as we await the joy of heaven and the resurrection of the body. Amen.
