In today's Gospel reading from John 14, Jesus tells His disciples, "Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him."
Wouldn't it be wild if God Himself dwelt in your house? Or how about inside you? Well, if you love Jesus and keep His word, that is exactly what happens. God dwells in your heart. But there's another side to that story.
God does not force himself on anyone. And if you choose to, you can kick him out of your life. So when we don't love Jesus and keep His word, we are essentially kicking Him out of our hearts and our lives. Sounds pretty drastic, doesn't it? And yet, so many choose to do just that. Let's make sure we never go down that road.
Father, may we always love Jesus and keep His word, that you may dwell with us always. Amen.
