Go and Tell

Posted on

In the first reading today from Isaiah 45, you get the sense that God has a message for the people. Five times God says, “I am the Lord, there is no other!” (Or something very similar.) Only God is God…get the message?

In the Gospel reading from Luke 7, John sends two of his disciples to Jesus to ask him if He (Jesus) is the one to come, or should they look for another? Jesus tells them, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard…” He then goes on to tell them of all the prophesies that have been fulfilled in Him. The blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, etc. In other words, take a look at the signs. They all point to Jesus.

Just as told John’s disciples to “Go and tell,” so He commands us. This is part of our mission as Christians. Go and tell the world of all the wonders that Jesus has done for us. Healings and miracles abound! He gives us His Flesh to eat! How can we possibly keep this all to ourselves? And yet so many do. For whatever reason, they won’t “Go and tell.” How about you? Are you ready to tell of the wonders that God has done in your life today?

Father, help us to open our mouths and share the good news of your love for us! May we “go and tell” everyone of the wonders of your love. Amen.
