Fully Armed

Posted on

Today's first reading from Jeremiah 7 should be required reading. See if you don't recognize that exactly what was happening then is happening now. "Say to them: This is the nation that does not listen to the voice of the Lord, its God, or take correction. Faithfulness has disappeared; the word itself is banished from their speech."

In the Gospel reading from Luke 11, Jesus is accused of driving out demons by the power of Beelzebul. He then talks about how a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. His remarks include this: "When a strong man fully armed guards his palace, his possessions are safe."

Are you fully armed? Of course, I'm not talking about guns and knives and earthly weapons here. I'm talking about spiritual weapons. Prayer, fasting, almsgiving. Scripture, the Rosary, Holy Mass. Read about the armor of God in Ephesians 6. If you are not fully armed with these spiritual weapons, then you're easy prey for Satan. Arm yourself for battle today!!

Father, may we make use of all the spiritual weapons at our disposal. Help us to be bold, courageous, and fully armed for battle. Amen.

Absolutely love your show….show? Not a good term I guess. I listen every morning I’m in the car. I am retired..still learning more and more about our Catholic faith…I am 72…please emphasize to your listeners that it is never too late learn. Catechesis in the 50’s wasn’t so great….I am just so blessed to be Catholic….still learning!!
