Today is the second anniversary of the election of Pope Francis. Gus celebrates by asking listeners to call in and rate the job he’s done so far. He also speaks with Ashley McGuire, senior fellow at the Catholic Association, about the pontificate of Pope Francis and recollects the day he was elected. Ashley just so happened to be a guest on Seize the Day on that very day.
Gus also talks about the decision by a Norfolk, Virginia’s Holy Trinity Parish’s decision to sever ties with Norfolk Knights of Columbus Council 3548 after their decision to name VA Gov. Terry McAuliffe as the grand marshal of their St. Patrick’s Day Parade. McAuliffe has been very vocal about being a pro-choice Catholic. Listeners call in to voice their support or displeasure of the Knights of Columbus. To read more about it, click here.
And, we also hear from Mary Ellen Russell, executive director of the Maryland Catholic Conference, about a physician-assisted suicide bill in Maryland that preys on those who are vulnerable or disabled and what they’re doing to eliminate it. Click here to read more about it.
Happy anniversary, Pope Francis!
