In today's first reading from Isaiah 7, Ahaz, king of Judah, is told by the Lord through Isaiah that the attack on Judah would not be successful; the Lord would not allow it.
In the final passage of today's reading, the Lord says this, "Unless your faith is firm, you shall not be firm!" What does this firmness of faith look like? We see the answer in the previous verses. "Take care you remain tranquil and do not fear; let not your courage fail."
There are so many things that can shake our faith. Personal issues, family problems, societal upheaval...the list is lengthy. We must never let fear take over. Jesus said, "Fear is useless; what is needed is trust." Even in these difficult times, we can remain tranquil and strong and courageous. Because we know who wins in the end. Unless your faith is firm, you shall not be firm!
Father, we put our trust in you. Help us to remain firm in faith always. Amen.
The news stations take partisan sides and all the news is slanted to whichever side they favor. Where is Walter Cronkite – a newsman who told the news – just news! Trying to pray more and worry less! Stay safe and follow the rules – that’s all that I can do.
