The blood of animals was very important in the old covenant. But the New Covenant is sealed with the Blood of Christ. In today’s first reading from Hebrews 9, the sacred author talks about the power in the Blood.
Today’s Gospel reading from Mark 3 is just two verses. Here it is:
Jesus came with his disciples into the house. Again the crowd gathered, making it impossible for them even to eat. When his relatives heard of this they set to seize him, for they said, ‘He is out of his mind.'”
Isn’t it interesting that Jesus’ relatives thought He was out of His mind? Has anything similar happened to you? I know it has to me. Often when we decide to dedicate our lives to God, others will think we’ve lost our mind. I suppose if I have to be “out of my mind,” I would rather it be for the sake of God than anything else. Call me crazy for Christ!
Father, help us to always set our minds on you, even if those around us think we are out of our mind. Amen.
