Celebrating the Communion of Saints

Posted on

Today is the Solemnity of All Saints. It is a Holy Day of Obligation, so if you haven't attended Mass yet, plan to go celebrate! As Catholics, we profess our belief in the Communion of Saints. Today is the day we honor them!

This is the day when we celebrate all those holy men and women who have gone on to heavenly glory. We can learn so much from the saints. They have been declared saints because they have lived lives of heroic virtue. Some folks may look back and say, “Well, sure, it was much easier then! They don’t have all the problems in the world that we have deal with today!” Oh, really!

When is the last time you were beaten for professing faith in Christ? Want to know about troubles in life? Ask any of the early martyrs. It always has, still does today, and always will take courage to live a life completely devoted to God. Remember…those who do not learn from the past are destined to repeat it. So today, resolve to learn from the past. Read up on some of the great saints. And let us thank them for their awesome witness, and their powerful intercession.

Father, we thank you for the many men and women who have showed us the way to heavenly glory. May we imitate their example daily. All holy men and women, pray for us. Amen.
