Today's Gospel reading from Matthew 5 is Jesus' teaching on anger. If you're bearing a grudge against someone, you need to read this. But beware...it's a toughie!
As Christians, we are (or should be) in a constant state of transformation. St. Paul puts it like this in our first reading from 2 Corinthians 3 and 4: "[We] are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, as from the Lord who is the Spirit."
If your faith is strong, you may sometimes wonder how people don't believe in God. How can this be? St. Paul gives the answer: "...the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they may not see the light of the Gospel..." My friend, the "god of this age" in the days of St. Paul is the same "god of this age" today. And he continues to blind minds - perhaps even ours in some ways. Let's pray that we will reject the god of this age and remain faithful to the Gospel of Christ.
Father, help us not to be fooled by the god of this age, and always stay close to Christ Jesus. Amen.
