Blessed are We

Posted on

Today's first reading is the end of the story of Job. After having undergone more severe testing than anyone, Job never broke faith. And for that he was greatly rewarded, as will we be for keeping faith.

When the seventy-two returned from their missionary journey, Jesus said to them, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you, may prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.” I’m sure that the seventy-two did indeed feel blessed. They had been given a great gift, a privilege. As have you.

I hope we will never lose the sense of awe that we should always carry around because we have Jesus. We have been given the gift of faith. I believe it is offered to all. Not all accept. Let’s remember today the great privilege we have to call ourselves Christians, and children of God. We are truly blessed.

Father, thank you for the gift of faith, and for giving us your Son, Christ Jesus. May we always acknowledge just how blessed we are. Amen.
