Being Good Tenants

Posted on

Have you ever rented an apartment, a room, a house or property? Perhaps you own property and lease it to tenants. In today's Gospel reading from Matthew 21, Jesus tells a parable about some (very bad) tenants.

The bad tenants represented the chief priests and Pharisees, and they knew this. Naturally this didn't sit too well with them. I think it's a great opportunity to assess what kind of tenants we are. Of course I'm speaking of the Kingdom of God.

You see, everything we have is simply on loan. Our bodies, our family, our money, our possessions, the earth - EVERYTHING belongs to God. So are we being good tenants? Are we caring for all the things God has loaned to us? When it's time to turn everything over, in what condition will it be? Read what happens to bad tenants.

Father, may we always show loving care for all that you have given us, which is everything. Amen.

    Gus,
I wanted to tell you that your Lenten pledge to "give others the benefit of the doubt. not gossip and believe the best in everyone " is awesome. How very Christlike of an attitude.

I think people often forget that we don’t have to have the same opinions to still be God’s children and worthy of respect. Thank you
