Another Year, Another Resolution

Posted on

Here we are at the start of another new year. Happy New Year! I have to say that 2013 was an amazing year for me and my family and our ministry. God is good! We celebrated the birth of our first grandchild, Beckett, in August. I was blessed to continue to host Seize the Day on The Catholic Channel on Sirius XM 129, and travel around the country sharing the faith. I’m looking forward to more great things in 2014!

Every year I try to make a few New Year’s resolutions, one of them always being a Scriptural Resolution. Last year my main resolution was to more fully live out Colossians 3:17. (If you’re not familiar with it, look it up!) How did I do? Well, I guess I’m not really sure, and in the end, God will be the judge. So what about 2014? Well, I’m giving myself a very tall order for this year. My Scriptural Resolution for 2014 is 1 Thessalonians 5:14-18.

“We urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, cheer the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with all. See that no one returns evil for evil; rather, always seek what is good [both] for each other and for all. Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.”

If you’re not big on New Year’s resolutions, let me encourage you to at least make a Scriptural Resolution for this year. Do a little surfing through the Bible and see how God convicts you with a particular passage. Then write it down and keep it at your desk or on your nightstand or somewhere you will see it every day. And ask God for the grace to live it out more fully.
