Have you ever wanted God to rain down fire and brimstone on someone? Maybe someone who was perpetuating evil? Or maybe someone who did you wrong? If so, you're not alone. Read what James and John say to Jesus in today's Gospel reading.
In our first readings, we've been following the story of Jerusalem and how it would become a great city again. In today's first reading from Zechariah 8, we read this prophecy: "In those days ten men of every nationality, speaking different tongues, shall take hold, yes, take hold of every Jew by the edge of his garment and say, 'Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'"
Have you ever met someone whose faith was so attractive that it drew you to them, and to God? I know I have. There's an old saying - You may be the only Jesus someone sees today. We need to be sure that our faith is attractive. Not showy, mind you, but attractive. Let's pray that people will say of us, "Let us go with you, for we see that God is with you!"
Father, may we have an attractive faith, that others may see Christ in our witness and be drawn to you. Amen.
