All for Jesus

Posted on

The Gospel of Christ can be tough to live by. I would say impossible without God’s grace. Take today’s Gospel reading, for example. Jesus said, “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” These are things that run counter to our nature, and certainly to the messages that the world sends. Luckily, God gives us plenty of opportunities to practice.

The first reading today is Colossians 3:12-17. These few verses are really a blueprint for living out the Christian faith. The last line of today’s reading really sums it up. “And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

What would our lives look like if, before our every act, we thought, "This is for you, Jesus"? Would we do all the things we do? I can't imagine we would sin if that was our overriding thought. Perhaps that would make for a good experiment. Make that statement throughout the day and see where it takes you!

Father, help us to always keep your Son at the forefront of our minds; to do everything in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to you through Him. Amen.
