A Wrathful God?

Posted on

In today's Gospel reading from Luke 13, Jesus heals a woman in the synagogue on the sabbath. Read what ensues.

In our first reading from Ephesians 4 and 5, St. Paul gives lessons on how to live, and the consequences of not living right. "Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the disobedient."

We know that God is a loving and merciful God. But we also know that He is a just God. This idea that St. Paul talks about - the wrath of God - is one that we almost never hear about these days. I would dare say that it  may be offensive to many modern ears. But St. Paul makes it very clear that it is still a thing. I would like to avoid the wrath of God, wouldn't you? If yes, then read St. Paul's instructions on how to do that.

Father, may we conduct our live so as to avoid your wrath, by accepting your grace and living our lives in Christ. Amen.
