Happy New Year! Today is the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. I suspect your church will not be as full as it was last Sunday. Here’s hoping I’m wrong!
Some people like to make New Year’s resolutions. Others think it’s a waste of time, as they’ll probably not keep them but for a few days. I fall into the first camp. One thing I always do is to make a Scriptural New Year’s resolution. I take a passage of Scripture, print it out and put it at my desk, where I can pray it every day. Here is my Scriptural resolution for 2017:
“Do everything without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine like lights in the world, as you hold on to the word of life.”
Philippians 2:14-16
I hope you’ll consider making a Scriptural resolution for yourself. Find a passage that speaks to your heart, and work on it daily for the next year. I think you’ll find great blessings!
Father, may we take your holy Word into our hearts each day, and allow it to change us. Amen.
