I'm going outside of my normal format today and instead of reflecting on the daily Scriptures, I want to share a marriage reflection. I hope you'll indulge me.
Today, August 1, 2026, is my 46th wedding anniversary. Michelle and I were married August 1, 1980. We were married at my boyhood parish of Mary, Help of Christians in Fairborn, OH. I had just turned 20 years old. It was another era, as most people who even marry today are usually in their late 20's or early 30's.
Our marriage has been like most other long term marriages. We've had our ups and downs, but the ups have outnumbered the downs exponentially. Truth be told, our marriage changed dramatically after we both gave our lives to Christ. When you put Christ at the center of your life (as an individual) and your marriage (as a couple), your priorities and outlook on life change for the better. I love Michelle more now than the day we got married, and more today than I did yesterday. I'm pretty sure that's a trend that will continue until they put me in the ground.
Michelle and I pray for marriages every day. I hope you'll join us in that endeavor. Because marriage can be a tough gig. But when our marriages mirror the marriage of Christ to His Church, all will be well.
Father, bless all marriages. May love for Christ imbue every married couple, that we may live out our vocation deepening our love daily. Amen.
Happy Anniversary to you both. Life is not easy no matter if single or married, but if you trust in our Lord you will receive what you both have.
Blessings!

Dear Michelle & Gus, Blessings & Congratulations on your 46th marriage anniversary.
What a lovely thought to pray for all marriages. I started praying for you two. I thank Our Lord every day for our arranged marriage of 33 years. God arranged, that is.
May God continue to draw you closer to Him and to one another. Lovingly prayerfully,
Mary & Carl Zanetti

Happy 46th Anniversary to you both!! May you be blessed with many more! 🙏
Like you, I too was married at the age of 20. However, that did not last. I now have been married to my best friend for 33 years. As my bride likes to say, we have an arranged marriage – by Him! Our shared faith is an integral part of our life together.
God bless!
Happy Anniversary, you two🙏🙌
How wonderful – congratulations! I miss you on the radio, Gus, but pray that your daily, private evangelization will continue for many more years. God bless you and Michelle, and all the family.
