Gus is joined by movie producer Bob Katz, whose movie "The Blind," a biopic of Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson, is still in the box office Top 10. He talks a little bit about that, and the making of the movie, before sitting down with Gus in the Conversion Corner. Bob grew up in a mostly nominally Jewish household but became an atheist after his experiences in the Vietnam War. His interest in Christianity was kindled while stumbling across Pat Robertson's 700 Club and saying the sinner's prayer. Bob was an accountant by trade and, after his conversion to evangelical Christianity, wrote a couple financial planning books for Christian and making steady appearances on Robertson's show. Bob first examined the Catholic faith after passing over a sermon by Joel Osteen that he'd heard already on his SiriusXM channel and switching one channel up to the Catholic Channel. He heard one of our Saint of the Day spots about St. Faustina. It caught his interest and eventually led to his Catholic conversion. He shares that story with Gus and the listeners.
Later, Gus gives an update on the hit streaming series about the life of Jesus Christ called "The Chosen." It was announced yesterday that the entire fourth season will debut in movie theaters first. The decision is based on the success of their previous theatrical releases and will eventually be streamed on its various platforms. Gus isn't sure he likes that idea and invites listeners to call in and share their thoughts. Additionally, Gus talks about how the patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa has offered himself to Hamas in exchange for the child hostages.
And Gus shares a blessing in disguise that happened a couple of decades ago. When their youngest son John was just a boy, he was taking a shower and attempted to do pull ups using the floating soap dish. It ended up breaking and revealed severe water damage, including mold and termite damage. Though he was initially mad at his son, he was grateful because it prevented even greater damage. Gus asks listeners if they've ever experienced a blessing in disguise.
