Jeannie Mancini, president of the March for Life, calls in to talk about what went on yesterday in our elections, particularly with the passage of Issue 1 in Ohio, which enshrines abortion up to birth into the state constitution. She gives Gus and the listeners a bit of a pep talk, and reminds us that changing hearts and minds is the first goal of the pro-life movement and that's a marathon, not a sprint. She also shares her incredible experience this past weekend at the March for Life in Michigan, where a similar law passed only the year before, and how the culture of life there was overwhelming, and echoes the words of Bishop Earl Boyea, of the Diocese of Lansing, Michigan, to "fight like heaven" against abortion laws. She and Gus talk about incrementalism, which includes laws that limit abortions to 15 or more weeks, and how, although they're not perfect and far from the desired goal, they will save lives and make sense politically.
Later, reflecting on yesterday's election results and his chat with Jeannie, Gus invites listeners who've experienced an unexpected pregnancy in their lives to call in and share how they responded.
Also, yesterday, pro-life advocate Mark Houck, who a little more than a year ago, was savagely arrested and thrown into shackles in front of his wife and seven children, and whisked off to jail by the FBI, announced his $4.35 million lawsuit against the bureau and the Department of Justice. Gus reads and reacts to the Catholic News Agency story of the lawsuit, where Houck alleges that the overzealous and completely unwarranted actions and intimidation efforts by FBI agents have traumatized his children and caused his wife to become infertile. She has suffered three miscarriages since the incident. Houck further alleges that the DOJ ignored the fact that he too was also a reproductive rights worker and entitled to the same FACE Act protections as the Planned Parenthood worker.
And Bob Dunning calls in to talk college football with Gus, including the Michigan sign-stealing scandal where Bob says he expects some kind of punishment from the Big 10 to come down possibly as early as today. Afterwards, they talk about Week 11's biggest matchups, including Michigan at Penn State.
