Eggsploitation
I just saw this trailer for a new documentary about the human egg donation industry. The documentary exposes what the makers of the film label the “deceptive advertising, large monetary incentives and appeals to altruism” that are used by the infertility industry to entice college women to engage in human egg donation, a practice that the CBCN claims exploits them and puts them at “considerable” health risk. I Belong to God
A while back on Seize the Day, I asked the question, What if we wore a shirt that said “I Belong to God”? Would it make a difference in how we conducted our lives? If people knew that we are here to serve the Lord, would we change our behavior? Well, that show got Fr. Don Roszkowski, the pastor of St. Mary’s in Metamora, IL, wondering. Freedom of Worship vs. Freedom of Religion
Sometimes I feel like Chicken Little. But I strongly believe that our freedoms are under attack by those trying to push a liberal/progressive agenda. I can envision a day, not so far in the future, when professing certain Catholic/Christian beliefs will get you fined or jailed or worse. This video from Chuck Colson should be eye-opening…
Christmas Ad Campaign
Advertising executives from the Church of England, Methodist, United Reformed and Baptist churches have banded together to produce the campaign in time for Christmas. The ads feature a composite of ultrasound pictures of a baby with the addition of a halo. The caption reads, “He’s on His way. Christmas starts with Christ.” I think this is one of the most creative pro-life ads I have seen. Prayer for Priests
Each morning I begin my show, Seize the Day, with a Prayer for Priests. During this Year for Priests, I ask that you join me in praying for our priests daily. Here is the prayer:
O Jesus, I pray for Your faithful and fervent priests; for Your unfaithful and tepid priests; for Your priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for Your tempted priests; for Your lonely and desolate priests; for Your young priests; for Your dying priests; for the souls of Your priests in purgatory. But above all I recommend to You the priests dearest to me: the priest who baptized me; the priest who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and instructed me; all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way. O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen
